We create environments where landscape and architecture
work together seamlessly

astudio landscape+urbanism

astudio is dedicated to delivering innovative environments for our clients and the public. Our team comprises individuals with diverse skillsets that allow us to approach projects from multiple perspectives. We value collaboration and prioritise working closely with stakeholders to achieve a cohesive design. We have established the landscape+urbanism team within our studio to further specialise and enhance our approach. This team focuses on masterplanning, urban design and landscape architecture. We focus on the urban context, understanding of micro-climate and ecosystem, and we value the importance of public space and local engagement.

design approach

We understand that every site is unique, and that cultural diversity and ecological value must always be considered. That’s why we take the time to carefully understand the climate, topography, and essence of each site before we begin designing. By doing so, we ensure that our designs are responsive to the local context and fit appropriately into their environments.

engagement

Public engagement is central to how we work. We help communities in the visioning of their environments, in this way they are part of the process and the final result. In everything we do, our aim is to embed social value and sustainability into our designs. We believe that by designing environments that enhance people’s lives, we can make a positive impact on our communities and the wider environment.

sustainability

As we are in a climate emergency, our approach to technology and sustainability is one of resourcefulness and efficiency. Rather than starting from scratch, we aim to work with what we already have and find ways to reinvent it for the better. We incorporate multiple purposes for each component; our goal is to create designs that are flexible and adaptable, so that they can endure over time.

technology

We start by observing and understanding places through mapping, drawing, photographing, and modelling. This helps us to develop each project conceptually and communicate the story and identity of each place. We use BIM technology and 3D visualisations to help us plan, design, and visualise. We also use VR to allow clients and stakeholders to experience the project in a more immersive way
