Trocadero Roof Extension

Expanding a heritage landmark with 136 thoughtfully designed hotel rooms.

Located in the heart of Piccadilly, the Trocadero Hotel Roof Extension transforms a Grade II listed landmark into a vibrant hospitality destination for Criterion Capital’s Zedwell Hotels. The scheme delivers 136 new guest rooms across two floors, sensitively integrating with the historic mansard roofscape while rationalising the existing rooftop services.

The design adopts a sustainable retrofit approach, reusing the existing roof structure and employing simple, elegant materials that harmonise with the pleated zinc rooftop bar. External terraces provide guests with panoramic views of London, while innovative room types – including cocoon bunk designs – maximise bed capacity within the permitted building envelope.

This project demonstrates how contemporary design can enhance heritage assets, balancing commercial value with sensitive architectural intervention.
